Kewanee Public Library District

Regular Meeting, January 20, 2026

Community Room 4:00 p.m.

Call to Order:

Members Present: Vanessa Fite, Vice-President; Lea Eastman, Treasurer; Jessica Fornander, Secretary; Andrew Dwyer, Jodee Werkheiser. Also present: David Eckert, Director.

Vice-President Fite opened the meeting at 4:06 p.m.

Public Comments: 

None

Approval of Minutes

December minutes December 8, 2025 were reviewed. Werkheiser moved and Eastman seconded to accept. Motion passed.

RESOLVED, THAT THE MINUTES OF THE DECEMBER 8, 2025 KEWANEE PUBLIC LIBRARY BOARD OF TRUSTEES MEETING BE ACCEPTED AS PRESENTED.

Budget Report

Eastman presented the report. All statements match the balance sheet. The mortgage account was closed. Transaction by detail account: Page 1 - Friends of the library purchased a new book cart. Page 2 Donation from the Kewanee Garden Club. Page 3 - Star Courier subscription was changed from monthly to annual fee. Page 3 - Proquest annual subscription.

Page 4 - Ameren bill was lower than in previous months. Special Levy Transaction - Stark

County taxes were received. Elevator maintenance was done. Liability insurance was paid. Annual Budget vs YTD Actual - should be at 50% of the budget for fiscal year. Discussed areas of opportunity.

Approval of Bills

Motion was made by Eastman and seconded by Fornander to approve the payment of payroll and bills as presented. Motion was passed by voice vote.

RESOLVED, THAT THE PAYROLL IN THE AMOUNT OF $42,235.81 AND BILLS IN THE AMOUNT OF $14,510.60 BE APPROVED FOR PAYMENT.

Department Reports

Director - Eckert presented his summary of the month. He is working on disposing records and will be a slow process. No changes to the elevator at this time, Tech Committee minutes will be provided in the monthly board market going forward.

Circulation & Statistics - provided in board packet.

Technical Services - provided in board packet.

Technology Report - provided in board packet.

Business for Discussion

Eckert and Dwyer are working on a tax release report.

A motion to adjourn at 4:59 p.m was made by Fornander and seconded by Dwyer.
